Ergaki Nature Park

Climate and Weather

The climate of mountains is kaleidoscopic, composed of myriad individual segments continually changing through space and time. Great environmental contrasts occur within short distances as a result of the diverse topography and highly variable nature of moisture fluxes within the system.

Weather patterns at Ergaki Nature Park are strongly influenced by continental climate, elevation, and latitude. The yearly rainfall is about 1200 mm but Ergaki receives majority of its precipitation between May and September.

The best time for travelling is in the middle of June to the end of September.

Winter in Ergaki starts in late October and lasts for about 6 months. December, January and February are the coldest months with temperatures that can drop to minus 40°C.

Summer in the mountains is short and rainy. July is the warmest month with average temperature of 16 C . Daytime temperatures are often in the 25C and occasionally in the 30C in lower elevations. Nights are usually cool and temperatures may drop below freezing at higher elevations. Although July and early August are generally the driest and warmest time of the year, summer can also be wet and cool. Probability of daily rains is high. Thunderstorms are common in the afternoons.

Visitors should be aware that mountain weather is very changeable and can vary from one valley another. There also is a large variation between daytime and night time temperatures. Pay attention that temperature gets one degree colder every 150 meters of elevation. The weather forecasts, which come from http://rp5.ru/Weather_in_Olenya_Rechka will give you an idea of what you can expect during the trip. Always be equipped with a wide range of clothing options. Be sure to bring a warm jacket and rain gear even in the summer.
